Making art is my way to forget myself and to connect with and appreciate the awesome integrity of nature, the vulnerability of the human spirit and the power of being involved in the creative process. Whether it is light effects on the mesa (my backyard) or the pure heart of a Mexican homeless child, I paint with empathy and reverence. I desire to make my experience of relating to the world "sacred". Sometimes I work from direct observation and other times I work totally from the "inside", letting images be born from an intuitive dialogue with materials and the unconscious mind.
